Configure Change Record Type

Overview

The change record type defines key attributes of the change record, such as the objects that can be assigned, the possible status transitions, and the rules for handling change masters. It plays a crucial role in shaping the change management process by determining workflows, approvals, and dependencies specific to each record type.

Customization Steps

You can set up change record types in Customizing under Logistics General → Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)  → Change Records  -> Settings for Change Records → Define Change Record Types.

Creating Change Record Types:

  1. On the Change Record Type tab, you can create new record types.
  2. CR.No.Rng – Defines the range from which the change record’s ID will be generated.
  3. Status Profile – Determines the possible statuses for change records of this type.
  4. Item Processing Status – If enabled, the system will apply the settings defined in Customizing > Define Status Checks and Actions will be valid for those change record types with activated processing status..
  5. Process Route Selection – Choose to use Process Route (based on BRFplus) as the workflow engine by selecting the checkbox. If left unchecked, you can assign an SAP Business Workflow scenario instead.
  6. Specify if the change record is for a regulated industry. If the Non-Regulated Industry checkbox is unchecked, user uses a specific change number to make changes to a business object, the system checks the changes against the related change record. This check is done for objects of type BOM material, Material, Inspection Plan, and Recipe.
  7. Determine how the system should respond when a certain object is assigned to multiple change records by selecting a messaging option in the Parallel Change Check dropdown.
